| Brad Romalia, our very own "Mr. October" has been with Frames Unlimited for 13 years and manages our Ann Arbor, Michigan location in the Maple Village Center on Ann Arbor's west side. While it's often hard to pick a favorite framing story (as there are so many from which to choose) Brad had no hesitation when he shared his. "My favorite framing story involves a gentleman who worked near the University of Michigan campus in the 1930's. He was in charge of his bookstore's front window display and so made a model of The Big House (U of M's stadium for all you out-of-towners). The model was complete with a team on the sidelines, full stands, a marching band, and yardline markers on the field. All the "people" in the stands and on the field were made of painted peanuts - some in shells, some out of shells! He used pipe cleaners and other objects to complete the marching band and instruments. With a photograph of the display and many of the field markers still in his possession, he came in to see me. We decided to create a shadowbox for his collection using the bottom wall of the shadowbox as a ledge for the yard markers, end zone flags, and goal posts he had made, and aligned them with the matching yardage in the photo. The finished piece looked great! All the detail he put into the display and the stories he told to go along with it made this framing job so memorable." In his spare time, Brad and fiancee, Debra are planning their wedding and honeymoon to take place late this fall. "In between, I enjoy discovering new music, watching movies and a game of golf when I can!" Brad adds. |
