Christine Pulsinelli started her professional picture framing career in 1981 and has been managing our Kalamazoo, Michigan location in the Westwood Plaza for over 2 years now.
It's obvious she loves what she does. "I truly enjoy getting to know the people who come into our store! Whether they are framing an African batik, some newly discovered Civil War letters, or a poster advertising a concert or local event, our customers have such interesting, and sometimes unusual, stories to share. It's both fun and satisfying to work together as we design a framing presentation that is unique and personal."
When asked about a favorite framing project, Christine shared this: "Last Christmas, a woman brought in an antique trumpet and a photo of a young man wearing his high school band uniform. The musical instrument belonged to her father-in-law, who had passed away many years ago when his son (her husband) was only 3 years old. We discussed several options and landed on an oak shadowbox displaying the trumpet, photo, some sheet music and an engraved brass name plate. We fabricated wooden dowel supports to hold the trumpet at a slight angle and hand-painted them to match the beautifullly aged metal color of the trumpet. We were all very happy with way it turned out. Just recently, this customer told me how her husband has been "inspired" to tell everyone who sees the cherished memorabilia about his dad!"Christine and her family have lived in several states throughout the east coast and the midwest. She and her husband, who works in the printing industry, are currently remodeling their 7th house. "Over the years, we've all gotten used to walking around tools, lumber, ladders and paint cans!" Their daughter is a reporter for a business magazine in Kalamazoo and their son has begun his freshman year at KVCC. Two cats - (the Rum Tum) Tugger and Grizabella (the Glamour Cat) complete the family picture. In addition to her many years in the picture framing industry, Christine has had performing arts experience; she co-directed three full production plays for a middle school in Indiana and for five years coached gymnastics and dance at a Missouri YMCA. |
